Knowing Your File Extensions

I've been talking non-stop about file extensions in my previous posts but one may ask, is it important to know these file extensions? I've previously mentioned that some file extensions are being used by viruses to hijack your PC so yes, knowing something about file extensions can help you protect your PC.

There are numerous file extension list on the internet or file extension libraries. You can just google the file extension you're looking for and you'll get an answer. Also, some files can be used interchangeably by some programs so even if you don't have the specific program to open a certain file, renaming the file extension of that file would help you open that particular file.

You can bookmark your favorite file extension list website on the net so that when doing your research next time, you don't have to do a Google search, just point your browser to that specific website and you're done.
